Mathematics - Function - Continuous / Discontinuous
In this application we study the graph of the function given by:
f(x) = 0.5x2 x < 1
f(x) = x + 1 x > 1
This function is continuous at all points except at the point x = 1.
By default we have a point (a,f(a)) = (2,f(2)) on the graph.
Use the slider to see how we come closer and closer to this point when moving both from left and right.
Move the point a on the x-axis to the position a = 1.
Again use the slider to see how we this time missucceed coming closer and closer to the same value when moving both from left and right.
