Attribution theory
When some students have problems with their studies, they always seem to manage finding good explanations or apologies.
Lack of success may be attributed to bad teachers, boring courses, old and bad books, lack of learning resources, hopeless fellow students, too little time, computer viruses or that "It's hopeless working more, I'm too stupid to learn". Oddly enough, poor results never seem to be due to a lack of effort.
A good advice: it's probably wise to be aware of these psychological mechanisms.
Take responsibility for your own situation. Do not be a victim of others' ideas. Avoid letting others rule your life.
YOU can always improve your performance with increased effort and smarter ways to study.
